SISTERHOOD 1 IN PUNE, INDIA
A collaboration platform with Maher Foundation and Sr. Lucy Kurien has made it possible to establish our Sisterhood 1 project in Pune, India.
The Maher Foundation is a reputable Indian NGO, with a special advisory status to the UN Economic and Social Council due to their 24 years of successful work to establish security for the most vulnerable women and children - and now also men in India.
This is a collaboration with many perspectives and we are very much looking forward to benefitting from each others knowledge and skills.
Due to Covid-19, the project is set to begin in September 2021.

WHY INDIA
India is the world’s most dangerous country for women due to the high risk of sexual violence and being forced into slave labour, according to a poll of global experts.
Government data shows reported cases of crimes against women in India rose by 83% between 2007 and 2016, when there were four cases of rape reported every hour.
India also ranks the most dangerous country for women in terms of human trafficking, including sex and domestic slavery, and for customary practices such as forced marriage, stoning and female infanticide.
